Sallat, Vinter- / Mache, Vert

A very cold-resistant type of lettuce, suitable for fall and winter harvest. Also called winter lettuce. Pick leaves by hand or cut off the whole plant. Can be grown in a bed with sowing in the fall for harvest in very early spring the following year. It has very good flavor and the plants can withstand freezing and thawing a few times. Eaten fresh as a salad or served as spinach. Thrives in a loamy, moisture-retaining and well-drained soil. Water regularly. Avoid watering on the leaves of the plant, as it is susceptible to gray mold and mildew. Winterize if possible.
