Palm cabbage/black cabbage is an ancient vegetable, known from the Tuscan 'ribollita', but also from the Portuguese cabbage soup 'caldo verde'. A good alternative to leaf cabbage (kale). Sow indoors from mid-April to the end of July. Plant out as soon as the plants are large enough.
