Mangold, White silver 2, vit

The leaves are used in the same way as spinach and the stems like asparagus. Thinning harvest by hand and then leaf by leaf (outermost) or cut off the whole plant 2-3cm from the ground. New leaves grow up that can be harvested throughout the fall. Often grown as a 1-year-old, but is a 2-year-old plant, which overwinters in a large part of the country. Can then give an early harvest before the plant flowers in year 2. Thrives in a rich, nutritious and well-drained soil.
