Betulia – planting and care
Beautiful and tough, that's the summer flower betulia in a nutshell. It blooms profusely and freely from early spring until frost, tolerates rain and light drought and thrives both indoors and outdoors.

Scientific name (Latin): Begonia Betulia
Family: Begonia family
Betulia requires little care and provides a lot of flower joy, throughout the season. That is precisely why this plant is the clear favorite in the cemetery – known as the grave flower of all grave flowers. If you want flowering without effort at home, however, it is just as beautiful in outdoor pots and boxes.
Betulia is available in several different red and pink shades, from the classic bright red to the delicate light pink.
How to succeed with betulia
You don't need a green thumb to enjoy betulia. Here are our tips:
- Light and location
Tolerates both sun and partial shade. Also thrives indoors.
- Soil and fertilizer
Plant in a nutrient-rich soil, such as potting soil, so the plants will have what they need for a long time to come – often throughout the season. If you choose soil without nutrients, you should add long-acting nutrients to the soil or water with liquid fertilizer every week or every other week.
- Watering
Does best in evenly moist soil. Know the soil! The plant does not start hanging with its leaves until it is really dry.
- Care
New buds and flowers appear continuously throughout the season. If you pinch off wilted flowers when you see them, you will help the plants produce more new flowers more quickly. However, the plant cleans itself, so this is not strictly necessary.

Interplanting with betulia
A large pot filled with betulia in the same color gives a lush and elegant look. If you want a more varied planting, you can successfully combine betulia with ornamental grasses, clover or alum root.
