Tips when planning and designing a garden
Garden
It is important to carefully consider when planning the garden, so that it is nice and ready for the summer. Start by gathering as much inspiration as possible. By planning well, it is easier to avoid unexpected costs along the way. Here we share some smart tips for landscaping.

To rent help or not – that is the question
Many who are planning to create a completely new garden or redesign their existing garden wonder if it is wise to hire a landscape architect. The question of cost naturally plays a big role, but it is possible to simply consult briefly with professionals to discuss ideas, look at garden sketches, and get inspired. Take advantage of this opportunity if you can!
Our garden planning tips
There are several steps required when landscaping your garden. By following them in the correct order, you will save both time and money.
Create a mind map with inspirational images
A designer is looking for pictures and inspiration for new collections, and you can do the same with your garden. The more you have to choose from, the more ideas you will get. Browse through garden and interior design magazines, cut out pictures, take photos of other people's gardens, and search online. Then set aside what does not seem interesting and create an idea map, a so-called inspiration board, with the rest. Feel free to find a theme, or a "red thread" so that you avoid the garden becoming cluttered.
Create a sketch
When you have the pictures in place, it's time to outline your dream garden. Here it's important to think practically and creatively. Consider which parts of the garden should be used for what.,● Playground with space for sandbox, swings, etc.,● Pool area,● Sunny areas,● Gathering points (coffee table, outdoor kitchen, gazebo),● Fountain or pond,● Vegetable garden, greenhouse, or cultivation area
The farm must speak the same language as the house
It is nice if the garden matches the style of the house, whether you have an old manor from the 18th century, a smaller modern townhouse, or a wooden house from the turn of the century. Also consider how the surroundings look and how your neighbors have arranged their gardens. Even though your garden should be unique, it is nice if it is somewhat similar to the rest of the neighborhood.
Create a balance in the shapes
It becomes more beautiful if different lines and angles are balanced against other, slightly softer shapes. The house itself usually has straight lines with windows and doors. Therefore, it can be nice to soften the overall impression with stone paved walkways in wave form, round grassy areas, and beautifully shaped bushes.
Consider plant and color choices
Even though the garden is outdoors, you will surely bring flowers and plants in from various flower beds and planters. Therefore, you should also think about which colors and flowers fit into the interior. Which flowers match the color of the house, or the fence? Do the flowers also work in a bouquet that you can put on the living room table? How low-maintenance do you want the garden to be?
How much time do you spend in the garden?
A skilled hobby gardener, or garden enthusiast, spends clearly more time in the flowerbeds than someone who does not share the same interest. Think about how often you are going to be in the garden and plan accordingly. A garden does not maintain itself, and if you neglect it, it will soon turn into a small jungle. Instead, choose a very easy-to-maintain garden that only needs a little care, rather than wasting time on a French park variant that requires a full-time gardener.
Also plan the view from the inside
During a large part of the year, you will be sitting inside looking out over your garden. Therefore, also plan based on the fact that the garden should be beautiful to look at from the kitchen or living room. For example, you can sow an oval lawn surrounded by beautiful plants, or place outdoor lighting along pathways and flower beds to create a great focal point.
Finally, we recommend that you consider structure, function, and overall impression when planning and designing your garden. This way, you can enjoy it throughout the year.
