Onion lasagna - this is how you proceed!
A bulb lasagna is made by planting bulbs in several layers in the fall - to be greeted by a lavish blooming in the spring, where the flowers succeed each other. It's easy and fun to build a bulb lasagna in a larger pot, and you really get rewarded for your efforts when spring comes.
You need this for an onion lasagna
This is what you need to start making your own onion lasagna in a pot:Pot. A large pot with holes in the bottom where water can drain out. Preferably a pot that can withstand frost, so it doesn't crack during the winter.Clay balls. Clay balls to place at the bottom, to prevent soil from clogging the drainage.Proper soil. Nutrient-rich flower soil.Flower bulbs. Flower bulbs for the plants you want to bloom in the spring. Autumn bulbs with beautiful spring blooms include crocus, snowdrop, daffodil, tulip, hyacinth, scilla, and anemone.
Step by step onion planting
Drainage. Before planting the bulbs in soil, start by putting some pebbles at the bottom of the pot. These prevent excess water from damaging the bulbs.,Soil. Fill in with a thick layer of potting soil, about 10 cm.,The first bulbs. Place the largest bulbs at the bottom. The tip of the bulb should be facing upwards.,Layer by layer. Cover the first bulbs with soil and then add a layer of smaller bulbs, with a few millimeters of space between each. The spacing allows the other bulbs to freely grow upwards. Continue adding soil and bulbs in layers, with the smallest bulbs on top.,Let it rest until spring. Finish with a layer of soil, and gently press the soil down. Water the bulb lasagna thoroughly and place the pot in a sheltered place in the garden over winter. Done! When spring comes, the flowers will emerge and bloom in succession.,Tip: The closer you plant the bulbs, the closer the blooming will be.
Determine how the blooming should be
If you want a long flowering period, or do you want all the bulbs to bloom at the same time? If you choose the first option, select bulbs that bloom at different times and replace each other during the spring. Otherwise, you should choose varieties that bloom at the same time.
Long flowering
Tip number one for succeeding with a long flowering period, is to plant the bulb that blooms last at the bottom of the pot, and continue in the same way so that the bulb that blooms first is placed at the top of the soil layer. Crocuses bloom already in February, followed by snowflakes and daffodils.
