Create personalized place cards with details from nature
Place cards are a simple and charming way to make your table setting a bit more personal—whether you’re hosting a Christmas dinner, mulled wine evening, or New Year’s party. Here, we show two versions you can easily make yourself, using natural materials and a touch of creativity.

Style 1: Elegant and Natural
White, green, gold, and a touch of nature. This version is perfect for a calm, elegant Christmas table with soft colors and adds a fresh scent of rosemary.

What you’ll need
- Tags / “To and From” labels
- White ribbons
- Gold Christmas baubles
- A small rosemary plant
- Glass coasters (small bases made of wood, cork, or cardboard)
- Green twine or string
- Marker or pen
Tip: Rosemary adds a lovely fragrance and can be used both as decoration and as a spice later.
How to do it
1. The decoration should rest on a glass coaster. You can choose whether to attach the elements to the coaster with string or glue, or let the decoration sit loose.

2. Cut a sprig of rosemary and shape it into a small circle—about the size of the glass coaster. Tie it together with the green twine.

3. Place the rosemary circle on the glass coaster and position a Christmas bauble in the center. Glue the elements in place, or leave them loose.

4. Write the name of the lucky guest on the back of a tag.

5. Use the ribbon to attach both the tag and a small bow to the top of the Christmas bauble.

The result: An elegant and fragrant place card with a natural twist—looking sophisticated, yet surprisingly easy to make.

Style 2: Traditional and Nostalgic
Red, green, and gold—this one gives a classic Christmas feel with a personal touch. This version also incorporates live plants, but creates a warmer and more nostalgic atmosphere.

What you’ll need
- Red silk ribbon
- Hyacinths
- Red “To and From” tags
- Gold string
- Moss
- Marker or pen
How to do it
1. Carefully remove the hyacinth from its pot.

2. Wrap the bulb in moss.

3. Use the gold string to secure the moss in place.

4. Write the guest's name on a label.

5. Thread the silk ribbon through.

6. Attach the name tag around the stem of the bulb and tie a neat bow.

The result: A living, fragrant, and charming place card that spreads real Christmas cheer. Bonus: The guest can take the hyacinth home after dinner!
